What is a collection?
Collections on the Scolab Platform: A Flexible and Adaptable Tool to Suit Your Needs
A collection on the Scolab platform functions like a personalized workbook, organized in a modular way to meet your specific needs. Here’s how it’s structured:
The Collection Itself:
The collection has a title of your choice. For example, you can name it “Stage 1 Homework” or any other title that suits you.
Chapters:
Each collection can contain one or more chapters. By default, these subsections are called "chapters," but you are free to rename them as needed.
Units:
Inside each chapter, you’ll find units. These units group the different activities or exercises you have selected. Just like with chapters, you can rename the units however you like.
This structure can be used for various types of organization. You can adapt it to suit the timeframe of your planning, whether it's for a few activities over a week or a structure spanning several months. It can align with a full-year plan or be tailored to more specific, short-term goals.
With collections, the Scolab platform allows you to organize and structure your activities according to your needs, without being limited to a single method.
Here are some examples of collections:
A collection named "1st Semester"
Chapter renamed "Week 6" or "Bonus Challenge"... or any other title of your choice (also applicable to units).
Unit renamed "Classwork"
Unit renamed "Algebra"
Or, as seen in the image below, a collection named "Homework".
Chapter renamed "Geometry"
Unit renamed "Week 1 - Day 3"
To Create a Collection:
1. Access the Library:
To create a collection, go to the Library menu from the homepage.
2. Select "Create a Collection":
In the Collections section on the left menu, choose the Create a Collection option.
3. Name and Describe Your Collection:
In the pop-up window that appears, give your collection a name. You also have the option to add a brief description to better define it.
4. Customize Your Collection:
You’ll be redirected to your collection’s page. At this point, you can rename the default first chapter and first unit.
Then, using the Add Activities button, you can select the activities to include in your collection.
5. Create a Collection from the List of Activities:
You can also create a collection directly from the list of activities in the Books section. To do this, click the “+” icon to the right of the title of the activity you want to add, then select New Collection.
